Cotto moves better than Lara, and has better offense, he'd outbox the fuck out the ginger

I'm struggling to be outraged by this. 115-113 was probably the right score, regardless of who won, but the rounds were so close that I could make a solid case for 117-111 either way.

A lot of those close rounds are probably judged by stylistic preference. I don't necessarily prefer the puncher/brawler, but I really can't stand the move halfway across the ring, throw a punch or two, then move back to the other side of the ring style. It's like watching tennis.

LEVI MARTINEZ you should apply for a job at the Federal Reserve. 117-111? Insanity.

Nah. If you gave me 100 bucks I could write up a detailed, persuasive account of why each guy should have won that fight 117-111.

There were almost zero dominant rounds. Alvarez won (and it wasn't by any means a robbery) without landing a single meaningful head shot.

I'd say that's not a problem, especially given the style. It's really the only practical punch to use consistently against someone using that much movement.

Correction: There was not one single dominant round in that fight.

If we're stretching it (and I would demand more money for this), I could argue 120-108 for either guy.

    Very tough fight to score.

I had it undeniably 3-0 Lara after 3. Then I scored the fourth for Canelo. Thereafter I was obstructed by technical issues, but judged the rounds as fairly as the means could merit. I definitely saw Canelo come on in the middle rounds, but Lara came back strongly. Not in a million years could I ever see a case for 117-111 unless it was a White House spokesperson or the North Korean national press. I think most people can make at least a case for a close fight, but I saw 6 rounds that were relatively easy to score in Lara's favour. Now if he didn't win any other rounds, then fine, a draw, or if you are against me, a close Canelo win, but no sane person would ever produce 117-111. That is Federal Reserve behavior. Martinez should go into banking where he can work for not just one dildo crazed cokehead, but a whole plethora of them.

And I could do the same for a one point fight so it comes down to reason. Its not reasonable to score that fight 117/111 in any way shape or form based on a 10 point must system. I thought Lara won by a point or two and would have settled for a draw or a close split either way but once again the Martinez card stinks of a rubber stamp. Someone may be able to attempt an explanation as to why it was a 117/111 fight but it wouldn't be rational.

Pretty much. Lara is a good fighter. It was always gonna be a close fight. But Alvarez won. And I think it was deserved. People seem to forget or maybe just plain don't know that body shots counts as much head shots

I'm not seeing a problem with an Alvarez win.
