Boxing Buzz: Pacquiao-Algieri, Kameda-Payasito, Vera-Rosado, Felix Jr. steps in for Andy Ruiz

According to multiple sources, both sides have comfirmed that a verbal agreement has been reached for WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao to defend his title against WBO jr welterweight champion Chris Algieri on November 22 in Macao, China. The bout will be seen on HBO PPV.

WBO bantamweight champion Tomoki Kameda, who scored a spectacular KO victory on Saturday against #1 rated Pungluang Sor Singyu, will next have to take on WBO interim bantam champ Alejandro “Payasito” Hernandez. The WBO has given both camps 30 days to work out an agreement.

Middleweights Bryan Vera and Gabriel Rosado will box in a 17-foot circular “pit” with no ropes on August 16 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. The $29.99 PPV bout will be contested over seven two-minute rounds. The fighters will use boxing gloves and the format is approved by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. It’s not yet decided if this style of boxing will be included as an official fight on their Fight Fax records. Former Golden Boy Promotions exec Bruce Binkow is involved in the promotion.

Top Rank reported that super featherweight contender Jose Felix Jr. will be now featured August 9 UniMas card in Glendale, California. Felix replaces heavyweight Andy Ruiz, who had an illness in family.
