Middleweights Bryan Vera and Gabriel Rosado will box in a 17-foot circular “pit” with no ropes on August 16 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. The $29.99 PPV bout will be contested over seven two-minute rounds. The fighters will use boxing gloves and the format is approved by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. It’s not yet decided if this style of boxing will be included as an official fight on their Fight Fax records. Former Golden Boy Promotions exec Bruce Binkow is involved in the promotion.

I've been seeing Vera promoting some type of ppv on his Facebook but I didn't realize it was something silly like this.

In other Facebook news, Donovan George will be fighting for a world title soon against Dyah Davis.

Lol, it sounds kind of fun actually, and it's a legit matchup which makes it a lot less of a sideshow. I'd happily watch, don't see why it would turn anyone off, they agreed to the fight.

7 each 2 minute rounds = 14 min
14 minutes + 6 min rest = 20 min
That is if rest periods are I min.
Should be wicked fast action, the first 5 rounds at least.

5 each 3 minute rounds = 15 min
15 minutes + 4 min rest = 19 min

I'll give it a shoot, should be nothing but flying fists.

yea and dont see why they need to do it in a pit? Just keep it in a ring. Hate all these gimmicks to try and boost sales.

I googled it n the pit is really just a circular mat a la a sumo ring.

It's not like a sunken in pit with fire, barbed wire and lions surrounding it lol

Sounds pretty dumb. I mean come on. I don't know what is a bigger joke, Rosado and Vera appearing on a 'ppv' main event or the the idea of same moat-pit surrounding it. Will there be dragons

Are we really running out of ideas and quality matches this fast. If you wanna go MMA,WWE, or ohhhh I dunno..a real match, just pick one. But don't clusterfook and half arse it with some American Gladiators hybrid carnival.
