There is little doubt in my mind that boxing has been devolving or eroding as the broadcasters, power brokers, pimps and thieves have played on this instant gratification mindset that is pretty much omnipotent in everything else we do. The advent of the very device I use to communicate here and all its spin offs are imo responsible for this shift. We know for instance that areas of the brain once lit are now dark. Not even boxing can escape the clutches of instant gratification due to short attention spans that coincide with this 140 character world. There simply isn't the time. Watching a boxing match that actually includes boxing is viewed as some kind of bent procrastination. Shit half the people at ringside are not even watching the fight regardless. They are staring at a device in case they miss something on Twitter.

Guys like Rigo and Floyd don't come around very often and when they do they dominate. The average fan does not want to watch a surgeon. They want a guy with a chainsaw. The average toga wearing fan most likely suffering from ADD, wants a good ole christians vs lions dust up as do the broadcasters and anything else is a failure. Its to the point where people actually expect fighters that box and don't hang out in the phone booth to do so or they suck. Boxing is being driven out of the sport of boxing.

Btw beautiful parting shot by Rigo to Arum in China. Knocks Sod out in the first round after the guy had won his last 37.

I'm done with these Micau cards and the constantly wrong info on start times, replay times ahhh whateva. I'm surrounded by screens and devices working Saturdays and unless I wrap my head in duct tape and blacken my eyes cannot avoid 'results' There is nothing as crappy as knowing the result prior to watching a card. Well there's a lot worse but that's my major pisser.

Glad Rigo got ko. Haven't seen it but sure it'll turn up. Zou should enjoy his favorite player status afforded by Arum while it lasts. He catches way too many punches and seems willing to do it with light pop. Oh crap, and Larry merchant

LOL, I'm beginning to think I might be a little fickle. They have convinced Zou to engage more to make for exciting fights (and I like that), but now they have to convince him to let some of his opponent's punches miss.
They are saying Zou makes too much money for his level as a pro, but that fight was all about about Zou, what I mean is that it could have been a boring affair with Zou picking him apart from the outside, but instead I wound up enjoying it.
Zou, is China's poster boy right now, so he's going to make the most money most of the time.
Larry Merchant was terrible, apparently he's making less so he's saying less, that's a good thing in the long run. I do admire the fact that he I still out there working, I'm sure he doesn't need the money and he is getting old.

Its def a different version of the Loma experiment as far as promotion. I don't know the particulars with Arum and contract but its dangerous ground when a promoter tries to make a guy something he's not yet. Trainers we've seen of course...and experienced fighters good enough to change style.. but a guy trying to protect or expand an investment can get Zou in big trouble and played for a fool. Weight of a nation on your shoulders is enough alone not to mention Scrare'um Arum pumping you up like this was a wrestling promotion.
