Re: 5 Reasons why ESPN/ SportsCenter is getting on my nerves
I'm conflicted on the Big 5 exclusive scheduling. On one hand you are going to get more competitive schedules and simply getting 10 wins will become a bigger achievement. Assuming we go the route of every conference having a championship game, and an 8 game playoff w/the 5 champions plus 3 at-large bids I don't see an exclusive big 5 schedule hurting a teams chance to play for the title. You could lose all your OOC games and win your conference and still play for/win the national title. On the other hand, can smaller schools and those outside of the Big 5 stay afloat financially much less be relevant in the CFB world? Hell a lot of Big 5 schools really need those extra home games that small schools provide to stay in the green financially. It undoubtedly creates a have and have-nots world in CFB but to a certain extent that already exists. Take Tim Deruyter at Fresno State. He has really got them competing but even a decade of 10 win seasons isn't going to get them in the same financial ball park as the top half of the Big 5. Hell Boise has had a great decade but still need to go undefeated, start ranked high enough and hope enough teams above them lose to even smell a national championship game.
