He paid dearly for that stupid act, went to prison, lost the respect of many in the boxing community, and all the money he could have earned in the ring. Man!
He earned a lot more money in the ring after he got out of prison, when he was nowhere near as good as he had been. Obviously it didn't hurt his marketability was my point. I might be wrong but I believe the Lewis fight was actually his highest purse as a pro, so what does that tell you? That was years after proving time and again that he was still a terrible human being who was practically finished as a fighter to boot! What people thought of him as a person had nothing to do with his success as a fighter, just as it never has for practically anyone.
