Last night all I could muster was "Damn." It was a shocker. This post was actually responding to the person who said there were not many family shows on televison. Corwin's Quest is a good show. I just didn't do a quote before posting.

Stever Irwin was the MAN! RIP he will be missed! He did do alot for the environment and animales etc. Seemed like a great guy. We can all say he had some BIG assss BALLS to mess with all them deadly animals! Its kinda sad how he went out tho? I'm pretty ignorant but A STING RAY? so a String Ray stung his heart?? can anyone clarify the details with facts?

From what the press in australia are saying - he was swimming above a stingray when it struck out, one of the barbs from its tail penetrated his heart. His team managed to revive him (not sure how but thats what it said) however he then died before the paramedics arrived. he was pronounced dead at about 11am aus time. Also said that the wound in his chest was not actually that big either. We'll probably get more clarification in the days ahead.

The Police still have the video footage, he was filming a piece for his daughters show.

The stingray expert at Sea World said he had actually only heard of 2 people dying from a ray barb in the last 30 years, its very uncommon but if it was going to happen to anyone it was going to be Steve

Yeah I was watching on the news the almost non existent percentage of fatalitys or even serious injury caused by them...I heard they can hurt like a SOB...but it's just temporary....Steve had the most freakish accident by getting it right in the heart...Talk about luck

God Rest Steve Irwin's soul and bless his family. He was still a young man at 44. Its just a tragedy all around. The man was so full of life and was very couragous. I'll miss him, he was a genuine person, which is very rare in this world. God bless him.
