Amir Khan-Josesito Lopez in Play For December 6th - Boxing News
Not the best opponent but that summer date with Brook is surely in mind for Khan.
Doesn't surprise me in the slightest. Of all the names banded about to fight Khan, Lopez is by far the least threatening. Don't they realise that Khan needs to earn some credibility if he wants Mayweather or Brook for a World title. Fuck, we don't even know when Brook will be back in the ring, and even if it is early 2015, after what's just happened to him, it would be understandable that he makes a defence against someone not quite at the top of the tree. After all, it's not like a minor injury.
So that means that IF Khan-Brook does happen , it would be next summer. If it doesn't come off, what will Khan do? He still won't get the Mayweather fight for the same reasons he hasn't already got it, he hasn't beaten anyone of note.
It is quite possible that by next summer, Khan list of opponents for the previous 3 years will read Molina , Diaz , Collazo and Lopez. And people still think he deserves big fights.
His career is fast turning into a joke.
I only opened the thread 'cause I thought it read Jennifer Lopez, I thought I was gonna see some @$$ !
F*<K !!!
That fight is too big not to happen and I read that Eddie Hearn has been asked by Wembley when they are going to put on another showdown there and its wanted for around May time. This is the most obvious fight that would be a sell out and this is the only reason why I can think Khan is fighting Lopez simply to protect that fight happening.

It says it within this piece
For a guy mad he was overlooked in the Mayweather sweepstakes this is step sideways at the very least for Khan. Lopez should be rematching Arnaoutis ( WAR MIGHTY MIKE) and see if he can manage to not be out boxed and dropped off a jab this time.
Lopez's brave but futile decision to take on Canelo and his victory over Ortiz have cemented him as a high profile opponent.
Good for him, but he seems to constantly be in fights he has virtually no hope of winning.
Easy win for Khan then.
Lopez is another in a long list of bottlers who fails every time he steps up.
Hell, Lopez is worse as he failed numerous time before he even stepped up.
You say tomato,
‘n I say …… it correctly.
Plus, he still thinks he should be in line for a big payday against Floyd. After the Collazo fight I thought he'd use it as a springboard into better opponents, and work his way into a fight with Floyd, but that doesn't seem to be the plan or in his DNA. The guy is wasting his time on a chicken-shit lateral move type fight, it's like he is scared to death of another KO.
An extremely talented fighter who is afraid to fight, if he had huge, glaring holes in his game I could understand it.
He doesn't have the greatest chin, but his real problem is lack of concentration, he does great and then for lack of concentration he leaves his chin hanging out.
Look, everybody knows how important every fight is for the guys at the top, but if you won't fight the top guys why should you be allowed to fight the best guy?
I like Lopez and he gets a pay day. Khan gets a win and keeps him relevant. Khan will get exposed once he fights a hard hitting welterweight but this is the order of things with Khan v Brooks to be held Summer 2015.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
Lopez was very strong at 135, 140. I don't think he is strong enough at 147, and his style requires that he be strong. Glad to see him make some money.
