I thought he was finished in the Kirkland fight. There was something about his demeanor that looked like he just didnt care anymore and had no desire to be there. When he clipped kirland early, he pounced on him realizing it could in fact "be that easy." After Kirkland weathered the follow up, Angulo looked deflated and you knew mentally he was done and he got ko'd. Ever since then i havent seen that early enthusiasm and fire and you knew he was fighting for the check.
They want your @$$ beat because upsets make news. News brings about excitement, excitement brings about ratings. The objective is to bring you up to the tower and tear your @$$ down. And if you don't believe that, you're crazy.

Unfortunately Angulo is a ghost. Yet another all action wear it on the sleeve who burned his candle at both ends. Fast, furious and to a brutal end. The visa delay not to mention the realization that a guy like Kirkland can handily outspeed and out box you took there toll and wasn't the same. Once he was warring with a welterweight in Silva in his comeback and having his head lit up like a bug light in a hornet swarn, you knew it was going to be more of the same. That 24-7 before Alvarez v Angulo was pretty deep, two total contrasts and Angulo just looks like a still waters run deep like loner soul, the bit with his kid. He was a bundle of wound up nerves and emotion crying his friggin eyes out. Just hope someone is looking out for him promotion wise. He easily has the recognition and 'style' to fall into sponge like stepping stone status and absorb some serious damage.

We're talking about Angulo, but if Trout doesn't win a big meaningful one then he may as well be following Angulo down the road of obscurity.

Yes, Angulo seems like a very serious and solemn person. That's a bad mix when combined with repeated beatings.

He could fast become another Richard Guiterrez journeyman if he doesn't get out soon.

I thought El Perro nearly had him out in the 10th, but hes too slow and plods forward.

When you have a big strong guy come into the gym, and he likes to fight and catches on to punching, it is tempting to let it go at that. Just tell him that all he needs to do is get out there, hit the other guy and go home. And you can perpetuate that myth through the early part of a guy's career if you have the pull that Angulo's management had. Then he moves up and gets into some fights and you can tell him that if he works out hard enough, gets into good enough shape and fights hard enough, he'll be ok.
But then you move up again, and you fight top guys. If you don't know how to avoid getting hit, if all you have is heart and a willingness to fight on, you can get hurt. They can take it all out of you real quick. Your career expectancy is limited when every fight is a hard fight.
It is easy, real easy, to teach a guy how to throw punches. Anybody reading this, in an hour, I can teach you to punch well enough to make you think you missed your calling. What is hard to teach is how to box, how to not get hit, how to move and how to think. No way you can teach a guy that up front, but you have to teach him enough to know how to learn, and you have to constantly guide him.
Angulo got walked along at the start, but he was never taught what he needed to know.

I was thinking the same thing, but he couldn't deliver. Maybe we should be giving some credit to de la Rosa.
Angulo is done, when you stand in front of another fighter and can't seem to pull the trigger until he hits you first, you are finished.

I think they can build Angulo up again if he is prepared to start at a low level again to get his confidence and profile back up. He probably will lose at world class level but at east he will have a longer career.

He was really skinny at the weigh in despite movng up to middle weight. He takes too many shots and could have long term damage. He shouldnt fight any more.

    No.

He's still got a few more fists to punish with his face.

I don't know if he's finished because I don't know much about his opponent, but I do know that he's taken a lot of head trauma over the past few years so maybe he should think about hanging them up.

He's a scrappy guy but he's another in a long list of guys who needs to learn that it's ok to move your fucking head or block a punch every now and then.

That would be nice, and I'd like to think he had a really, really, really bad night.
The truth is he looked terrible, just terrible. Flat footed, no urgency, not trying anything except his usual straight ahead let the other guy wear himself out on my face and body approach.
It was like he had never seen anybody with fast hands and lots of movement, he had absolutely no answers and no clue how to figure it out. He was in the fight for 4.5 minutes
Angulo is like a robot who's owner has failed to keep him upgraded. You know exactly what he is going to do.
