The night of Hearns/Leonard, I was out walking my dog. Some people had paid for the fight and had a projection screen set up in their back yard, having a party to watch the fight. I'd stand on there fence looking over, until their dog would bark at me. Then I'd walk around the block, come back and watch some more.

87 yrs ago on yesterday's date, the rematch occurred - Gene Tunney X Jack Dempsey II - this fight was aka "The Long Count Fight" - Dempsey insisted on a new rules change when fighter is downed, opponent goes to a neutral corner - Dempsey floors Tunney with a combo and forgets to go to a neutral corner and the ref doesn't start counting which gives Tunney variable seconds to recover.
