    April 23, 1962

    Sports Arena ~ Los Angeles, California

    #10 Cassius Clay ~ 12-0-0 {9 KO's} ~ 6' 3" ~ 196 lbs. ~ {Age; 20 years, 3 months}
    vs.
    #12 George Logan ~ 23-7-1 {14 KO's} ~ 6' 1" ~ 205 lbs. ~ {Age; 25 years, 8 months}

    The Skinny >

    Cassius Clay was a {4-1} Betting-Favorite

    George Logan was coming off a 'beat-down' demolition at the hands of Robert Cleroux {L TKO 7} at the Sports Arena
    only 7-Weeks earlier {March 5, 1962}.

    In that bout, George was 'busted up' and cut badly over the right-eye. George was badly 'battered' in the bout, and only
    won '1' Round.

    The rumor here, was that George Logan and his Manager - Al Berro were taking the easy cash {$4000} to be a 'sacrificial lamb',
    as the cut had not properly healed.

    Al Berro {Manager} >
    "I see no reason to worry. George has some damage over his right-eye, but he knows how to protect the cut from
    re-opening. We know that Clay will be aiming for the eye. So, we know his game plan. He can't hit George if we're
    backing him up."

    George Logan >
    "I have to back him up. I can't get into a boxing-match at Center-Ring, otherwise he'll win. I must back him up
    and pin him along the Ropes. If I do that, I'll wear him down."

    its true. This is a scandal of outrageous proportions. Never in the history of boxing have i heard of crooked or incompetent ranking systems. This now clouds my whole opinion of the saintly sport, which hitherto was a bastion of gentlemanly conduct, respectful behaviour, fair fights and decent, balanced fans.

    It's just a good job that this particular fighter was later shown to simply not be very good, and I suspect he just quickly disappeared off the radar of the hard core boxing fan. We are lucky that the general public never really heard of him so he didn't later prove to be the reason boxing was so unpopular in the 60's and 70's.

    I do declare I detect a cretinous buffoon ...... And it ain't Cassius.

    Was the LSG connected.

    You bet they were..........'Louisville Sponsoring Group'

    Do you think they had a few Sportswriters in their pocket.

    Those group of men in Louisville didn't get rich by playing Tiddly-Winks.

    Ruthless Rocco,

    I suggest you type in 'Il Duce' and the LSG.

    That 'Magnificent Bastard' put together one in-depth and detailed outline of everything.

    So all this crap you've been posting for days is just you plagiarizing some other windbag from another forum?

    Get a life.

    If all this crap can be found on another site then how about you post the link and shut the hell up.

    Surely you can see that your efforts aren't much appreciated.
