The Skinny >
Cassius Clay was a {4-1} Betting-Favorite
George Logan was coming off a 'beat-down' demolition at the hands of Robert Cleroux {L TKO 7} at the Sports Arena
only 7-Weeks earlier {March 5, 1962}.
In that bout, George was 'busted up' and cut badly over the right-eye. George was badly 'battered' in the bout, and only
won '1' Round.
The rumor here, was that George Logan and his Manager - Al Berro were taking the easy cash {$4000} to be a 'sacrificial lamb',
as the cut had not properly healed.
Al Berro {Manager} >
"I see no reason to worry. George has some damage over his right-eye, but he knows how to protect the cut from
re-opening. We know that Clay will be aiming for the eye. So, we know his game plan. He can't hit George if we're
backing him up."
George Logan >
"I have to back him up. I can't get into a boxing-match at Center-Ring, otherwise he'll win. I must back him up
and pin him along the Ropes. If I do that, I'll wear him down."
