    I'm embarrassed to say although I knew the name , I Didn't know much about him. fuck , what a career he had! He lost to everyone and his wife, beat Duran twice and went from Lightweight to fighting Super Middleweight World Title fights according to Boxrec. and at one point in his career he fought Lloyd Honeyghan at Welterweight and 6 months later , he fought Dan Sherry for a SMW trinket. that's a 2 Stone difference!!!!!!!!!

    Vinny Pazienza vs. Melvin Paul

    Tuesday ~ November 26, 1985

    Harrah's Marina ~ Atlantic City, New Jersey

    Televised by ~ USA Network

    Vinny 'Paz The Pazmanian Devil' Pazienza
    Age ........... 22 years, 11 months
    Height ....... 5' 7 1/2'
    Reach ........ 70"
    Weight ....... 138 lbs.
    Record ....... 16-0-0 {13 KO's}

    Melvin 'The Tank' Paul
    Age ............ 25 years, 2 months
    Height ........ 5' 5"
    Reach ......... 67 1/2"
    Weight ....... 136 3/4 lbs.
    Record ....... 22-6-0 {13 KO's}

    'The Skinny on Vinny' >

    Vinny Pazienza was introduced as 'undefeated', but he was 'stopped' by Abdelkader Marbi in
    Milan, Italy 1-Year earlier {December 1, 1984}.

    That bout was somewhat controversial, and Lou Duva had tried to get it ruled as a 'No Contest'.

    This was only Vinny's 3rd-Bout in 1-Year, as he was suffering from a recurring {nose problem}, as
    Vinny had his nose busted up several times.

    'The Skinny on Melvin'

    Melvin was a tough kid who came to fight. Though he lacked size, he was a sharp-boxer with
    decent power.

    Unfortunate for Melvin, his brother had been 'shot to death' only 1-Week earlier.

    Yep, bit like Tyson vs Savarese that was. I don't buy that its adrenaline, if guys can't control themselves in those instances they shouldn't be getting paid to fight. I'd love to see a ref with some size on the fighter retaliate somehow, which they would be well within rights to imo.

    Yeah, boxing really needs referees like they have in the UFC. In boxing historically it's been old/fat guys or little midgets like Mills Lane where it looks comical to see him in the middle of two giants.

    They need a Big John McCarthy or Dan Miragliotta in there incase shit gets ugly. Paz would have been on the ground tied up in a pretzel if he tried that shit with any of them in there.

    Paz was a spaz, literally. Could also be a dirty mo fo with elbows, body slams, nut shots and intentionally raking Durans face with laces. The Loreto Garza fight was one of the foulest and fugliest I've seen.

    Vincenzo Pazienza

    "I'm white, and can fight"

    Yes, Vinny was a 'classless buffoon'.

    Never was a fan of "Yo Vinny" for that very same reason. Leading up to his fight with RJJ, I remember thinking how I would've been happy with a boxing lesson from Roy. Instead..... Roy swept the floor with the hapless dude. Made an instant fan out of me.

    Roy Jones/Paz was a PPV, too. Had to be one of the biggest mismatches on PPV ever, right up there with Floyd/Gatti.
