I didn't like the way Peter took the body shots. James took some hard rights but whenever Toney hit Peter to the body his arms dropped. I think if there is a rematch Toney will win because of body shots.

You have to give ground somewhere. This was a close fight with A LOT of close rounds. Personally, I think Toney won. I had the fight 6 rounds to 6 with the deduction making Toney the winner. But I could see scoring the bout 7 rounds to 5 or even 8 to 4 for either fighter. Every single round was a close roud, so I can't call it a screwjob. Even Freddy Roach knew going into the last round it was completely in the air, and Freddy Roach is a guy who usually keeps his fighters calm and tries to prevent them from making mistakes. He told James he needed a KO to secure it!Originally Posted by Hulk
Readin around a bit, I think I'm agreeing with Wack more then anyone here. Close fight. Some of you are a bit dellusional imo to say he gave a boxing lesson or that he would KO Peter, or that he even hurt him tonight. It wasn't a robbery, just a close fight.
Agreed. It was just a close fight.Originally Posted by amat
It could have gone either way. Watched it again last night & today at work (YES I HAVE A JOB...) & each time that I saw it...it was closer for Peter & then one minute closer for Toney.
There was no dominating & no boxing clinic & no robbery...just a close fight & honestly...the better man for the division won.
There's no chance of an explosive fight between Toney Maskaev...imagine the bombs that will be thrown between Peter Maskaev.

CC. Plus the fact that I'm a big Sam Peter fan (gotta put Sam in there so it doesn't come off wrongOriginally Posted by wacko3205

But that was a close fight...seriously...there were rounds that I almost had no clue who to give it to. I was still sorting it out in me brain during the following rounds. The judges had to be hating life.
I think that the decision is right...but the scores were fwocked.

Thats the reason the scores were so screwy. So many rounds that close and they gave enough to Sam Peter that the scroes didnt truly reflect the actuall fight.Originally Posted by wacko3205

Easy to rationalize anything I guess if you try hard enuff huh? James won least 7 rounds plust the point deduction. Sam did not win anymore than 5 rounds, and that's giving him all of the close rounds. Folks Toney won the fight, just because he's not a big puncher and Sam is doesn't mean it was okay to screw him over.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"
Hulk. I really don't beleive that. Giving him all the close rounds? All the rounds were close rounds, or close to it. I mean, yeah Toney did win some clearly, and Peter won some clearly, but the majority of them were absolute tossups imo. No one was screwed over here. It was a close fights. There are close fights in boxing, it's a reality of the sport. But to call every single close decision a robbery is wrong. I've only watched the fight once so far, and my scorecard was 114-113 for Toney and a good half of those rounds, I had no idea who to give to. I'm not buyin the robbery talk. I'm ok with thinking that Toney should of won, but it was a close fight. Hopefully these two can rematch as it was actually a pretty exciting fight.Originally Posted by Hulk
