1917: Harry Greb ND 10 Len Rowlands, Milwaukee, WI.-Benny Leonard ND 10 Jack Britton, NYC. Referee: Billy McPartland. Leonard was better. (New York Times) LolGreb won the newspaper decision according to the Milwaukee Free-Press and the Pittsburgh Post. According to the Post, Rowlands put up a “classy” defense against Greb for four rounds, but then tired and took a bad lacking from then on. However, he fought back as hard as he could. Greb split open Rowlands’ cheek in the 7th round.
