Why does he need to fight Ward? I've never understood this call. Not only is Ward effectively retired but there are much better options for the cash. He called out Cotto because it was expected and also because on paper he is the lineal champion having beaten Martinez. Yes thats a joke but its the way it is. Cotto is Mr. money pants in the weight area along with Alvarez.

Cotto I am sure has no delusions about ruling the division and the reason he has not taken a fight until next year is because Alvarez/Cotto is most likely a lock for May. That effectively ends any chance of this fight happening in 2015. In addition Cotto will most likely retire after Alvarez win or lose but who knows. As long as he does not hold the title hostage. I'd wager Alvarez would fight Ghengis as it would most likely be 2 years from now giving him a possible advantage.

Froch is not going to fight him and why should he? He's also in cash out mode and really has no reason to. He's also got nothing to prove and has fought everyone. All of the fraud belt holders including Cotto if he beats Alvarez should be forced to fight this guy. They wont though and thats the convenience and joke of the entire system. These guys can call themselves world champions and retire as such and dodge and skip their way through.

Maybe the guy should pull a Leonard.Find a vacant 168 title and then get a 175 titlist to defend his title but come down to 168 to do it with the vacant title also on the line.
