I think Bill is trying to elucidate certain usually un-examined facets of Ali's career' such as how much dog he may or may not have had in him. If Dundee was indeed screaming "Be a man!" it does look a bit odd. But in Ali's favor, he DID fight a good 15th round against Shavers.
