The Espana/Taylor fight was a tough one for Meldrick. He'd have been better off had he told both Duva and Benton to go away and leave him alone after about the 3rd round. One guy telling him to box, the other telling him to get close and he had no clue how to get close beyond just walking forward.

Espana was a decent fighter and Taylor was finished as a top fighter. It was a sad beating. Espana had a longer wing span than his own height. He married an Irish lass and settled into family life after losing to Quartey.

    Fight of the day

1980: Jim Watt vs Sean O’Grady. I never really bought that O'grady got death threats while in Scotland along with his family although the name is most likely 5th or 6th century Irish.
Maybe it was the catholic origins but I have a hard time believing these threats were serious.
I guess it only bugged him and effected his performance when the end came cause he had a nice lead.
