1980: Jim Watt vs Sean O’Grady. I never really bought that O'grady got death threats while in Scotland along with his family although the name is most likely 5th or 6th century Irish.
Maybe it was the catholic origins but I have a hard time believing these threats were serious.
I guess it only bugged him and effected his performance when the end came cause he had a nice lead.

1930: Fidel La Barba W 10 Kid Chocolate, NYC. By all accounts Kid Chocolate was schooled in front of 20,000 at MSG. He was a big favourite going in.

1933: (Slapsie) Maxie Rosenbloom W 15 Mickey Walker, NYC. Retains World Light Heavyweight Title.

Referee Eddie Forbes voted for Walker, “to the surprise of everybody who learned of this vote before they left the Garden. The referee’s ballot, however, was not considered in the decision because of the unanimity of the two judges. Under the State Athletic Commission rules, when the judges agree their vote carries the decision…. Forbes said after the battle that he warned Rosenbloom repeatedly for holding, hitting on the break and striking with the open glove.”

“The 10-round bout between Henry Armstrong, 130, Los Angeles and Kid Moro, 130, Philippines, ended in a draw at Pismo Beach last night after a state commissioner present reversed a referee’s decision in favor of Armstrong. The referee, Freddie Gilmore, was given police protection as protests of fans ended in a near riot.”

1934: Baby Arizmendi W 10 Henry Armstrong, Mexico City. From what I have gathered over the years, its pretty clear to me that Arizmendi boxed Armstrongs ears off. Some reports suggest that he won every round with superior boxing skills. Arizmendi was not heavy handed and chose boxing over bravado finishing his career with just 13 knockouts. Not the typical Mexican warrior. What made this win even more amazing is that Arizmendi broke his left wrist in the second round. He turned pro at age 13. Great fighter that rarely gets mentioned because of the stacked era he fought in.

Garza lost his mind and went after Meza, got so mad he threw up. He was still mad when he got in the ring and fought wild. Though he always fought pretty much all out.
