He weighed in 173 for the Kov fight. I seriously doubt he cut any weight for the fight. 168 would not be a weight cut that would weaken him. I cant imagine Hopkins walks around more then 180 normally

He came into the fight at 183 or so. It's not an impossible cut, but for a 50 year old who has been at 175 for the last 10 years or so, even those 7lbs extra could be a bad situation for him.

The only reason he would go down in weight is to win a trinket for his legacy. He was a very small middleweight when he fought Oscar. He could do it for the right fight.

Hopkins started as a light-heavyweight and then lived at the gym literally and cut to 160. He maintained 160 by being a gym rat and became a natural middle as a result because he was in fighting shape all of the time. Other mids at the time packed a lot of water and although some may have been heavier at fight time they were not really bigger. In his middleweight prime Hop had about a 2% body fat ratio. That was a lifetime ago in this sport.

But he's been up way to long and gone to the well to many times my friend. Besides look how he was Saturday. He was absolutely shut out and looked lethargic and gun shy. Shit he looked gun shy against Murat. If he took that kind of weight off at this point he he'd look like Oscar against Manny only worse.
Just stand him up in the ring and nail his feet to the floor. Look at what it did to Dawson.

You are right. It would be a massive mistake for him to try and come down.
