Bob Foster
"I beat up Cassius way back in 1959. I was only a Middleweight at {163 lbs.}
and he was around 174 lbs."
"After I tagged him a few times in the 1st-Round, he got on his bicycle and
flew around the Ring. I was expecting a tough fight from this 'kid' from Kentucky,
but he was nothing special."
"Then I floored him when he tried to trade with me in the 2nd Round. At the end
of the 3-Round fight, he couldn't even look at me and congratulate me. I went to
shake his hand, and he stuck out his hand, but he looked at the floor in shame."
So Ali would be 17 years old boy and Foster 21 year old man. Either way Ali stopped Foster 13 years later.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
1959
Bob Foster showed heart and courage by joining the 'United States Air Force' in 1957.
Yes he was a 'man', in 1959 {Age; 21}, but he was a 'skinny' 6' 3" Middleweight.
Cassius was all of {Age; 17 years, 4 months}. But, he was ranked as the #2 American
Light-Heavyweight, and was getting all the publicity.
Bob was 'the man' in 1959, and schooled the Kentuckian boy.
Well done Bill, you've proved the Ali point perfectly. At 17 years and 4 months of age, Ali was schooled by the 21 year old Foster. Later on down the Line, Ali smashes Foster and many others in his career and become the Heavyweight Champion of the WORLD not once, not twice , but THREE TIMES!!! WOW!!! What an amazing improvement Ali made. That takes some doing doesn't it Billy boy? Thanks for enlightening us all and highlighting the Dedication and Desire Ali must've had to become as good as he did.
As for Bob Foster...........yeah,he was ok.![]()

'My amateur career was more important to me than my professional career.
I didn't really care about Championships all that much. It was about making
as much money as possible, and then getting out without too much damage.'
'I wish Cassius would have had 'the balls' to get back into the Ring with me
in 1968. I'm not saying which way the fight would have ended, but I was a
much better fighter in 1968 than 1972.'
'In 1972, I was 34 years old and completely worn out, and Cassius knew it.'
