Manny has been calling out Floyd as of late. I don't like to see that happen. It makes me think he may be looking past Algeri. I agree he can give Manny some problems. It brings to mind Apollo Creed not taking Rocky seriously. We all know what happened there.
I can't fault a kid for maximizing his role and spotlight and Algieri has definitely done that. Its just half the time he comes off like a guy to enthusiastic about taking my order at starbucks. This fight makes no sense to me and its win nothing-lose everything for Manny. For all of the "boxing" Chris does he also does a great amount of posturing and posing in the ring. Its hard to describe..not in some arsehole cocky way but more like a guy who spends too much time shadow boxing in his hallway mirror and being overly impressed with it.
No doubt he'll hang tough though, even though I had Provo winning you have to respect coming back from being brutally mashed in the 1st and fighting through those torn up eyes. The one risk I see for Manny is his mentality..his fire, again...and not being willing to put hard hurt on a guy like Chris. This isn't an arch rival like Marquez or a revenge somewhat shate talker like Bradley. Its a media friendly, crisp and clean looking choir boy. Manny has to hurt him, not settle and relax. I think he'll carve Chris up badly none the less.
I think Manny finally manages to win inside the distance. I don't think he'll knock him out but I do think he'll stop him.
Manny and Arum always start alking about Mayweather the week before one of their PPVs then you never hear him mentioned until the week before his next PPV. One of the Top Rank 140 pounders, can't remember who, says that if he wins his next fight (round about now, maybe on this bill, can't rmember) he's been told he's going to get Manny next.
