And Briggs has a better overall set of notches via notable wins then pretty much any active heavyweight.
What has Wilder done to get a shot at Stiverne. And speaking of Stiverne who the hell has he beat?

Briggs has fought 6 times this year against guys most likely higher ranked then Wilders sketch pad, has lost a hundred pounds, got control of his asthma and rededicated himself. He's also more dangerous then anyone Wlad has fought in God knows how long. While Wlad waits to get a crack at the winner of the two paper tigers for his brothers vacated belt, Briggs is most likely the biggest money fight. I'd wager he puts up a better fight then that log Pulev.
He hasn't had a good win in many years though is the thing, and he's really never had a great one. Stiverne beating Arreola twice is infinitely more impressive than anything Briggs is even capable of doing today imo. I understand that no active guys in the division have great wins aside from Wlad, or who haven't already been beaten by Wlad, but that's not the end all of this. A lot of it has to do with the beating Briggs took against Vitali in his last real fight, which was years ago now. That was a curb stomping, he didn't land a single punch all night and Wlad is harder to hit than Vitali, Briggs punchers chance would be about the same literally any HW who wasn't completely shit would have, VERY slim.

Do you really think Briggs could beat Stiverne, Jennings, Fury, Povetkin, etc? I'd pick Wilder over him also but I grant you he is no more qualified. I don't think BRiggs could beat Steve Cunningham, Mike Perez, Mansour, I wouldn't be surprised if he lost to Chagaev or Arreola. He just doesn't throw anything any more. I'd bet you all of those guys would be more than willing to fight him, but Briggs won't fight anyone half decent unless its Wlad, so he can get some money to retire on. That tells me he isn't even taking himself seriously.
