It's a shame he died...freak accident really. I'm surprised this hasn't happened in baseball more recently. Bowlers in cricket can "pitch" just about 100 mph which I believe is the fastest recorded bowl in history and they bounce it in which is pretty amazing for the ball to keep that kind of pace to it. Baseball on the other hand you deal with a tad more velocity, Aroldis Chapman a pitcher for the Cincinnati Reds holds the World Record for fastest pitch at 106 mph. But worse than that the ball coming off the bat is also very dangerous and pitchers have been getting hit in the face and head more often and the ball coming off the bat is going even faster than what it was thrown at.
