I stumbled upon this "unflattering" doc from the 80s.

    - He was a bully
    - Womaniser
    - Woman beater
    - Spunked all his dough (the equivalent of millions today)
    - Was conned out of his dough by parasites
    - By 30 was skint and working in a scrap metal yard
    - Attempted to kill his daughter
    - Aged 38 committed suicide - shot himself in the head then heart

    Some story.
I knew all of this by the age of 14*. Way too young... Depressed the fuckin life out of me. What a shit story for a man who beat Sugar Ray.

*I used to collect those 'Boxers' collectables (magazine/ VHS combo). The first generation, when it was distributed by Marshall Cavendish. I think it was no. 6 in the collection.

Nice one @Fenster - gonna watch this when i get a chance!

Turpin beat SRR in Earls Court London didn't he ... then lost the rematch.

Heard he was rather Feral to say the least.

    Nice Find

To beat the best he must have been the best for that particular occasion. Ray Robinson was tired and jet lagged and won in the return but only after he pulled it out of the bag from the cut.
