I Mayorga a bigger puncher or better fighter than Pipino Cuevas ? I don't think so and Duran KOED Pipino at WW.
I stick to my opinion of Duran by KO.

Cuevas had a better career yes. But being a bigger puncher is up to debate. Crisper yes, but our Mayorga had/has those clubbing shots that come from octopus-angles who hurt his opponents real bad. Also Mayorga is slightly bigger, depending on the same day weigh-ins, Cuevas a smaller man. Cuevas would have been manhandled the same way he was against Duran, no problem.
It's all about the weight for me. P4P, I rate Duran light-years above Mayorga... no comparison. But facts are facts. Duran was otherworldly as a lightweight. It wasn't even fair to throw fellow lightweights into the ring with him... sort of like throwing raw steaks into the lion's cage.
But at 147, we're talking several divisions above Duran's peak weight, and in Mayorga's wheelhouse. I'm not saying Mayorga would've beat Duran, because I would've bet on Duran. But to think Duran would just blow Mayorga out of the ring is a bit unrealistic. Mayorga DID have a tremendous chin. He had that warrior mentality... wasn't afraid to get hit as long as he could get in his tremendous shots. He had chin and he had power.... AND he was the naturally bigger man.
But he was a bit wild, whereas Duran was savage, but controlled and much more accurate. And you're talking warrior against warrior. I'd watch these two fight as many times as they wanted to fight. In the end though, I'd favor Duran by decision or late stoppage.
B class fighter v an elite one.
