I use to watch him when he was wrestling in UK with Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks.
Awful wrestling but I watched it live with my dad and loved it at the time.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
Rickie The Dragon Steamboat was great, Harley Race, Junkyard Dog, The Road Warriors, Demolition, Brutus The Barber Beefcake, Greg The Hammer Valentine, The Enforcer Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard, Koko B. Ware, Brett The Hitman Hart, Jim The Anvil Neidhart....wrestling in the 80's was brilliant!
And the theme songs were awesome!
And the promos were legendary!

How odd. It's dead as fook in work right now so I spent all day yesterday watching Wrasslin documentaries on the You Tube.
I never really watched Wrestling mainly due to it always being on Sky but I'd get a VHS of Wrestlemania and the like so I've always been familiar with the faces. I watched a bit of ECW, WCW, TNT. I've never really cared for particular Wrestlers as such but if I had to pick one I'd find it difficult to split the Undertaker and Goldberg. I also used to like Legion of Doom.
Not sure if he's still alive but the Dynamite Kid ended up living on a shitty council Estate in Manchester after completely loosing it. When Chris Benoit went mental (Dynamite Kid was Benoit's hero) an English rag tracked down TDK and he basically slated CB for harming his family. As it turn out TDK was something of a hypocrite and used to beat his Mrs up a fair bit and stuck a shotgun in her mouth. On the video I watched he was pretty unapologetic, the shotgun wasn't even loaded!!
It was some sad stuff. These guys basically running themselves into the ground day in day out sticking whatever they can into their bodies to get bigger, keep going. In the end they pop.
The main guy Vince seems pretty unapologetic about it too. All these guys dying before they hit 40, roided up to the eyeballs. The MO still seems to be the same, bigger is better. But it's ok. The WWE has banned chair shots to the head.
When God said to the both of us "Which one of you wants to be Sugar Ray?" I guess I didnt raise my hand fast enough

Shawn Michaels, from his days in the 'Rockers' to 'The Show Stopper'
Owen Hart as the Blue Blazer
Paul Roma, from Young Stallions and Power and Glory
Anyone mention Jack 'The Snake? Didn't like him much but his story lines with Andre the giant and Rick Rude were fun

Cold Heart and a Weak Mind
Fun days watching the old stuff.
When Hulk came to my town with our very own Crusher!
Iron Sheik was WWF
I can't remember the exact name, but there is a documentary on the AWA & owner, wrestler Virne Gagne.
I HIGHLY reccomend it. It chronicles Verne as a wrestler, owner of AWA & how he controlled the midwestern wrestler, & think the NWA controlled the south.
And when Hulk Hogan came- he left the WWF went to AWA- During this time he did Rocky's movie & Verne wanted rights to his name, he refused it.
I'll just add this: Hogan then went back to the WWF, where startup McMahon said keep your rights to the name and headscarff trade marks are his.
Thunderlips & B.A. Barracus aka Clubber Lang- per this documentary caused wrestling to blow up, end results most of the greatest wrestlers joined the WWF to be like or get the fame of Hulk.
One by one the NWA, & AWA started to drain of their talent in order to go to the WWF turned WWWE.
The documentary shows how Verne was at the doorstep of where McMahon went to (the top), but because of his ways---he fucked it all up.
The docu shows all the best from NWA Ric Flair to WWF Bob Backlund, just a great review of all the top wrestlers & how at some point Verne Gagne father of Greg Gagne was at the top- then lost it.
