Hector Carrasquilla
The 'Panamanian Wunderkind' in his 1st real test.
April 1, 1977 ~ Arena de Colon ~ Colon, Panama
Hector Carrasquilla ~ 7-0-0 {7 KO's} ~ 5' 8" ~ {121 lbs.}
vs.
Emilio 'Kid Clay'' Buitrago ~ 41-9-0 {14 KO's} ~ 5' 5" ~ {122 lbs.}
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hector, only {Age; 16 years, 11 months} takes on 12-year veteran, Nicaraguan
28 year-old Emilio Buitrago.
Emilio is the former Nicaraguan Bantamweight Champion, which he won way
back in September 1967 {9 1/2 years ago} when he was only 18 years old.
This Nicaraguan 'fire-plug' has been campaigning since 1965. He quit boxing at
the end of 1974, but came back in 1976 and has won '8-Straight' over a string
of weak opponents.
Emilio is no walk-over, as he had been in the Ring with 'future' World Champions;
* Ricardo Arredondo {twice} ~ April 1967 and March 1968
* Alexis Arguello {twice} ~ July 1971 and October 1971
* Rigoberto Riasco ~ March 1974
Emilio has only been stopped 'twice' in his career, once by {L KO 5} to Ricardo
Arredondo in March 1968, and once to Alexis Arguello { L TKO 5} in
July 1971, which was caused by an injury to his left-eye.
Emilio is 'rock-jawed', and has only been floored 'once' in his career.
Emilio is now ranked as the #3 Central American Super-Bantamweight.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"The Bout"
The young Panamanian didn't wait too long to unleash his 'explosive punches'.
Immediately, Hector tore into the Nicaraguan with a 'two-fisted' barrage, and sent
the 28 year-old veteran flying backwards and into the Ropes. There, Hector fired
away with lightning-fast flurries.
Emilio was shaken several times, and only his experience allowed him to last out
the 1st-Round barrage.
In Round 2, Hector went back on the attack, and slammed Emilio with left-hooks and
jarring right-crosses to the head, rocking him sideways.
At the {0:40 Mark}, Emilo attempted to send out a right-hand lead, and walked into
a 'vicious' left-hook counter from the Panamanian.
Emilio then crashed face first into the canvas, where he was counted out at {0:52} of Round 2.

Hector Carrasquilla ~ 8-0-0 {8 KO's}
vs.
Anthony 'Pee Wee' Stokes ~ 9-1-1 {6 KO's}
The young 17 year-old Panamanian is to take on talented Tony 'Pee Wee' Stokes,
a fast-handed Bantamweight from the Bronx, New York.
Tony is a 22 year-old - quick-hitting boxer/puncher, who's only loss was a 'disputed'
hometown 4-Round Decision to Philadelphia's - Jeff Chandler at the 'Spectrum' in
Philadelphia back on November 30, 1976.
Tony was a heralded Amateur, who won both the 1973 and 1974 New York Golden
Gloves at 112 lbs.
This bout was 'billed as' a 122 lb. Super-Bantamweight positioning bout.

"17 year-old Panamanian Shocks Tony 'Pee Wee' Stokes By Knockout In 2"
Lanky 17 year-old - Hector Carrasquilla {Panama} scored a major upset and
blasted out highly-regarded New York Super-Bantamweight - Tony Stokes in
just 2 Rounds.
The 22 year-old New Yorker came in with a record of 9-1-1 {6 KO's} and with
a #17 WBA-ranking in the 'newly instituted' Super-Bantamweight Division.
'Pee Wee' at 121 lbs., was expected to have an easy time with the touted,
but untested Panamanian who arrived with an impressive 8-0-0 {8 KO's} record.
Things got off well for Stokes, as he used his fast-hands and speedy footwork
to edge out the equally-fast and hard-hitting teenager during an extremely
fast-paced Round 1.
In Round 2, the pattern remained the same, as both quick-fisted boxers unleashed
their fast fists.
The action was roaring at Center-Ring, as both young boxers fired away with
blazing hand-speed.
Suddenly at the {1:50 Mark}, Carrasquilla {122 lbs.} caught Stokes with a left-hook
to the jaw, and 'Pee Wee' wobbled as his legs went out from under him.
The young Panamanian charged after Stokes quickly, and unleashed a fast 5-Punch
combination to the head, followed by a solid 'left-right' to the jaw, dropping Stokes
flat on his back.
Referee - Roberto Ramirez then counted out Stokes at 2:12 of Round 2.

Coliseo Roberto Clemente ~ San Juan, Puerto Rico
Hector Carrasquilla ~ 9-0-0 {9 KO's} ~ 122 lbs.
vs.
Andres Torres ~ 31-15-1 {7 KO's} ~ 120 lbs.
The young Panamanian {Age; 17 years, 2 months} is back in Puerto Rico on
a major fight card.
This will be Hector's toughest test in his young career.
Andres Torres is a scrappy 25 year-old Puerto Rican slap-punch fighter. Andres,
who has been campaigning since July 1969 {8 Years}, has been in the Ring with
many quality boxers.
* Nelson Cruz Tamariz ~ {twice}
* Leonel Hernandez
* Francisco Villegas
* Leo Cruz ~ {twice}
* Enrique Solis
* Andres Hernandez ~ {twice}
* Davey Vasquez
Andres is extremely durable, and has only been stopped {twice} in '47-Bouts'.
Despite the '15' losses on his record, Andres is on a good streak where he has
gone 16-1-1 since May 1975 {26-Months}.
