Campaigned as a {54 Kg} 119 Bantamweight at {Age; 14} in the
Central American and Caribbean Championships in Costa Rica {November 1972}.
Wilfred won his first '2' bouts before coming up against the Great Cuban,
28 year-old Orlando Martinez in the Quarter-Finals.
Orlando, who was the 1972 Olympic Gold Medal winner at {54 Kg} Bantamweight
was an over-whelming favorite.
Well, yes Wilfred lost a 3-Round Decision.
But, the 14 year-old Puerto Rican thrilled the Coast Rican fans with great movement,
and a still talked about defensive exhibition against a World Champion.
The Cuban won, but he hit Wilfred with only about '10-Punches' over 3-Rounds.

Ali appeared as the young fighter in Requiem for a Heavyweight. Anthony Quinn played a heavyweight that was washed up trying to get back in the title picture. I don't remember the character's name but I'll take a shot, Mountain Montana or Rivera. It was directed by Rod Sterling of Twilight Zone fame. The old fighter was overwhelmed
