True, but I understand why.

Olympians Luis Yanez, RauShee Warren, GARY Russell JR, Demetrius Andrade
were touted as the best Olympians. Raynell Williams, Sadam Ali & Javier Molina and I think even Shawn Estrada all had way more amatuer fights overall then Wilder.

Yet the least skilled or experienced amatuer shall I say- pulled a medal.

So for those who say football players wouldn't make good boxers should know that was Wilder's goal.
But he turned to boxing knowing he could make some money- where NCAA football wasnt a guarantee he'd make it..so he turned amatuer in 2005? And won a medal in 2008? Tam you would know way better than I how difficult that is...you're a fighter.

There was no skill he could have accumulated IMO to win the medal- that was heart, will power and KO power. No fundamentals -just On the job training..& Mark Breland know this,- give him a heepin' of tomato cans, build his confidence- but his power keeps him from gaining rounds..So that IMO is why they have taken so long to get here...but guess what?

Iv been saying for ages Stiverne isn't that good. Cant move his head out the way of a punch. Cant move on his feet fast enough and gets hit far too much. A heavy Berto.

Wilder proved he is not as fragile as we thought, although lots of the punches it looked like he took we saw on replay he actually rode because he saw them coming as Stiverne telegraphed them. Stiverne was so poor at being in range to punch he nearly fell through the ropes!

See the times Wilder was pressured? Just put his gloves up and stood in front of Stiverne. No skills to hold, turn or move. Someone taller, quicker feet, better defence with the confidence to be in range to actually land and does Wilder do much back?

Stiverne is a far bigger puncher than anything that fury has faced , Wilder took shots and didn't go down.
Wilder has a better chin than fury , hits harder , and has faster hands , so how exactly is fury going to win ?

The reason Stiverne didn't look that good is because Wilder made him look bad with an outstanding jab that didn't stop coming the entire fight, and nearly constant movement.
I was worried Wilder might punch himself out after the sixth or seventh, but he stayed calm, listened to his corner, kept that jab in Stivern's face, and basically lead Stiverne around the ring like a dog on a lead.
You say Wilder didn't get hit that much because he was rolling with the punches. Sir, that is what he has been trained to do, that's what good boxers do.
You talk like Stiverne didn't land anything at all because he was so slow. Apparently you were at the frig when they were showing some of the replays, so I'll help you out by saying that Wilder did eat some good punches and kept right on fighting.
Stiverne nearly fell through the ropes all by himself because he was exhausted from the ass kicking he was taking and out of desperation to land something solid.
Wilder did lay on the ropes, at times, late in the fight but that was to be expected as this was the first time he'd been past 4 rounds in a fight, and he was fighting in a fast paced fight. I'd like to point out that nearly every time Wilder came off the ropes he gave Stirvene a little something extra, which you probably missed because of your extreme case of tunnel vision.😊
I might as well do a little crowing myself. I've been saying, for a while, that you can't really say Wilder is a one trick pony just because he KOs everyone he fights, I think Wilder proved that last night.

I think Wilder should fight some of the big HWs before he takes on
Wlad. I know you don't think so, but there are plenty of us who think Tyson needs some more experience before he fights for a belt, especially before he fights for Wlad's belts.

Stiverne didn't look that good because he isn't that good. He already has a stoppage loss and a draw. I have said previously I don't think he's very good. Its not hind site.

Do I think Fury would take the fight?

They already tried making that fight when Haye pulled out. You think now its a massive fight with a world title on the line that they wouldnt?

Wilder has a nice jab. He got invaluable experience last night but the way he reacted under Stivernes ineffective pressure by just clamming up would be a worry for his team. He needs a defence against probably Arreola. Someone who can push him but would never get past his jab.
