Duane Bobick signed a contract with Joe Frazier {Smokin' Joe Enterprises} back in
February 1975.
Joe Frazier was to be the Manager, and Bruce Wright was the Attorney who negotiated
the financing.
The contract stipulated, that Duane was to get a Monthly Salary, as well as 47% of the
Gross Receipts for each bout.
Smokin' Joe Enterprises would provide a Training Facilty, a Trainer {Eddie Futch} and
all expenses while Duane was under contract.
Duane, who was from Bowlus, Minnesota did re-locate to Philadelphia to train before
each bout.
I believe that Joe Frazier and Bruce Wright negotiated a '3-Fight Deal' for Duane to go to
South Africa and take on the '3' top South African Heavyweights.
Joe Frazier and Bruce Wright negotiated the deal in December 1977, and with the original
bout date scheduled for Saturday, January 28, 1978.
Duane, Eddie Futch, Murphy Griffith and 'Publicist' Dave Wolf went to Johannesburg in
mid-January to have 2-weeks to prepare for the bout.
The bout was pushed back 1-week, and re-scheduled for February 4th.
Besides '3' lucrative Fight Purse's, they also locked up a nice Endorsement Deal for Duane.
