OK, well by that rational why is Hagler at 160? Taylor is bigger and a better boxer AND Ray Leonard "beat him" at 160.

Why is Aaron Pryor the best at 140? He beat Arguello and that's about it...why not Julio Cesar Chavez, Niccolino Locche or someone like that?

And why is Ali at the top of everyone's list? Riddick Bowe anyone And if you don't think a tip top Bowe couldn't beat Ali look at who beat Ali....Ken Norton, he was big and strong so was Bowe and Bowe was the far tougher and better boxer.

.....but Lyle to answer your previous question. Tommy Gibbons as never Light Heavyweight Champion of the World. Roy Jones dominated the division for the best part of 10 years

    Hope this helps

Cheers m8, yours too, although I always say SRR may have been 5 times MW champion, but you have to lose it to win it again - Monzon & Hagler didn't lose it.

Jones wasn't half the fighter at LHW he was at SMW. He even retired from boxing in '96, but has ended up hanging around for 10 years because HBO let him choose his opponents - it was easy beating taxi drivers and firemen twice a year on boring decisions.
A greatest list has have something to do with achievement. He was only at Super Middle for 2 years and about 5 or 6 World Title fights, He was a Light Heavy for the best part of a decade with close to 20 world Title fights
what division do you think defines RJJ
Dude, Jones was insane at 168. Watch the Harris and Malinga fights, and the finishing combo's on Pazienza and Thornton.

Jones' only great fight was against Toney. Take the Toney fight away and there's no way Jones is a HOF.

And so what about Charles, Moore, Foster, Spinks, etc?

    Thanks for the help

Ali beat those guys but it doesn't say anything about face to face match ups with Bowe, Lewis, Vitali (oh fuck yeah I said VITALI!)...Frazier - puncher and not a boxer, Foreman - huge puncher but not a smart fighter, Shavers - big puncher, tiny guy, questionable chin and stamina, QUARRY...HA, Young, Ellis, and Terrell were good boxers but couldn't punch, Liston was a great win, no doubt. Norton wasn't even really a boxer for all that long

    HOWEVER

Bowe had all the power of a Sonny Liston, the chin and determination of Joe Frazier and he could box better than Ken Norton who was a weight lifter before he started boxing, and he was as big as George Foreman...so any way you slice it it's one tough fight for Ali

Lewis was BIGGER than anyone Ali ever fought, he had hellacious power, and he used his size as well if not better than Ali.

Vitali yes he was injury prone, yeah he got cut ONE TIME FROM A FREAK PUNCH (yes the thumb in the eye started that mess his face ended up in, no fault to Lewis it was an accident)...Vitali has KO'd all but 1 person he's ever beaten, he only lost when he was hurt, his style is extremely awkward, and he's got one hell of a chin.
