I am actually supporting Floyd without a great reason. He and Pac are two of the best of my generation. I feel privileged to have seen them both.
In Floyd's defence he really only became a bad guy when he was going to headline his first PPV with Gatti and nobody would see as the bad guy. So he sold it. I am Canadian and wanted Gatti to win although I had a good idea of the outcome. I think Floyd has played many roles ever since.
My wife cannot name any fighter post Ali other tan De Le Hoya, Tyson and Mayweather.
All three have had personal issues whether it be domestic abuse, fish-net stockings or even rape. I have a strong issue against all of those things. Especially the fish net stuff. :-)
But they have made the sport relevant for the casual fan which may not be the bread and butter for the promoters but keep the sport alive.
That being said, Pac should also be seen as a great. He took on all commers in a tough division without a fear of loss and gave us great moments.
I am just rooting for Floyd like I said in my opening statement without a great reason to back it up.
I love both these guys and if it happened 5 years ago I would equate it to Leonard-Duran. Strangely based on everything I said and the comparison itself I was a bigger fan of Duran.
Despite being very late this fight is good for boxing even though in the past I said I didn’t care any more. I changed my mind.
I will be supporting the Pacman, because he is everything I like in a fighter.
As I've posted elsewhere, though, I'm tipping Floyd to win on points or even a late stoppage. Floyd is a great fighter too .....
