Rocky Marciano ~
"You see, that Clay fellow is very tricky. He will only fight in a 20' x 20' Ring. He likes to
spring around the ring like an Antelope. Hopping and bopping. Now I know he couldn't
hurt me, but in a Ring that size, my problem would be trapping him."
"He's like a 'sprinter' with those long legs and arms. And me, I'm like a Fullback, all
arms and elbows, and thick thighs. Just who would want to pay to see that fight. Not me."
Rocky Marciano
"Clay wouldn't have been popular a fighter in the 1940's and 1950's, because he's not
a fighter. He's what we call a 'Bird Boy'."
"Always flapping his wings and chirping with his beak. He might have gotten out of the
Ring in one piece, but the spectators who spent their good money to watch him fight
would have been pissed off."
"I'm sure they would have gotten ahold of him outside in the Parking Lot after the
bout, and beaten some sense into him."

"Why is this idiot reanimating my corpse and making me say shit?"
@Master you are wrong bro Archie Moore Joe Walcottr and ezzard Charles all said they were much more concerned about Rockies devastating left hook rather then his straight right hand which they felt was was overrated. It was his vicious left hook that annihilated Harry kid Matthews in the 4th round and nearly decapitated him. It was also he's vicious left hook which destroyed Joe Lewis. It was his left hook that finally knocked out Archie Moore not his straight right hand. And it was his left hook that put Don cockle down something that he could not do with his right hand. I don't know what you're smoking over there in Wolverhampton but whatever it is send some over here to me haha
Both Marciano and Frazier had enough power to knock out early Clay, if they could catch him flush.
The fully grown 70s Ali could have taken Marciano's shots same as Frazier's.
Marciano never fought let alone beat an opponent anywhere near as good as Clay! Yet Ali in his career managed to overcome some opposition that would knock Rocky simply straight out. This should be considered.

Sometimes I do not know who is worse Bill or Max?
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
Marciano would fight off the back foot and lean back real far to his right and down wards and he would never get hit not even once with Ali's left jab or left hook. he would be underneath the jab all night long and then counter with a terrific left hook to Ali's body

yes but the thing about Marciano was he would use his size as an advantage. Charlie goldman told Rocky to make himself even smaller than he already was. This was his great advantage like a reverse psychology
I've always had problems using statistical arguments with regards to Marciano because his numbers are not representative.
He beat all of his opponents and stopped most of them. But this has to be tempered with the fact that he only ever even fought about 12 opponents which were over 200lbs and every single one of those were utter bums with no relevance.
None of this lends credit for or against his chances against Ali, so it really all comes down to opinion.
Rocky was a tough bastard but Clay fought superior competition as much as it pains me to say that. Rocky's style was that of a little plodder, he was NO Mike Tyson by any measure. Clay was really the first HW boxer to get up on his toes, get his work done and try to get out of there at the first sign of danger. He was still very scrappy but in one of those rare moments for his defence I feel he has to be considered as kind of like the prototype for what we see today, tall mobile fighters who try to keep their opponent at range.
I never seen anything that convincing in Rocky's performance which leads me to believe he has anything but the punchers chance which I already gave him credit for.
Henry might have wasted Clay, but Henry also got belted out the next round too. If Marciano was better than Cooper, he was not that much better.
