I'd say closer to 15%. I want to see a man stopped and if he isn't going down then it is because he isn't ready to go down. Pascal was the same as that in the 3rd or 4th and he weathered it like a warrior. You have to give the benefit of the doubt to a man that doesn't know what it means to be stopped. Boxing would be lame if you stopped it every time someone got hurt.

Sometimes those are exactly the dudes that need a ref willing to stop it cause pascal would probably have to be put in a coma to actually get stopped, like I said I thought it was slightly early but overall ok with the stopagge the way the fight was going...

Pascal put up a brave performance, but he did take some big punches and he buzzed Kovalev
a few times,! the stoppage was spot on he was hurt no need to take more punishment.
Kovalev V Stevenson interesting 2 big punchers who lands first,! a comparative fight you
    would have to say.

Pascal proved his heart that some people doubted. He was fighting in a daze from round 3 and took a sustained beating in the end fighting at a pace he isn't use to. He's also not use to being bullied and hurt regularly

Kovalev showed that nasty streak by pointing a laughing at pascal as he stumbled round the ring, knowing the finish was imminent. He's one bad Russian. Stevensons screwed!

I was having a Teddy Atlas moment because I could see as early as the first round that the fight was all about Kovalev s left hook and he was making a little hard on himself trying to set up the right.

A couple times he was setting up for a left hook but I could see he wasn't comfortable with it.

I liked the stoppage, Pascal was out on his feet and stumbling around like a drunk. A ref is supposed to stop a fight when a man can no longer defend himself and Pascal had clearly reached that point, he was a sitting duck for those right hands.

    THANKS!!! FREEDOM!!!
Great commentary by everyone on this thread. As I watch this I can only confirm: How bad is that old man Krusher fought last to not have suffered what Pascal did?!

Thanks again for the fight, Free!
Gotta' go with those who said it was a bad stoppage.

Pascal to his credit, doesn't have/use a jab, doesn't throw or cant throw in combinations (are his arms to muscular?)

Too dependent on landing a big shot. As for Krusher- I liked how he started with the jab to the body, but he didn't keep it up. Great timing, knows how to tie up, when to fight, great chin.

Kov has got my vote: He's a great fighter in the making.

Think about it this way. Pascal didn't go down because the referee stopped it. Kovalev was going to pound him until he was on the canvas and every time he got up Kovalev was going to do it again as long as the referee allowed it.
Pascal gave a great performance, tough, courageous, and smart but he was tired from the beating he'd taken and pretty much defenseless. He was lucky to have that referee. IMO
Sometimes you have to protect a fighter as courageous as Pascal from himself.

The stoppage was clearly legit and Pascal was out on his feet; I understand that his ego is hurted but I don'T believe him one second when he says that he was full of energy and ready to counterattack. If Kovalev wouldn't have slip, he was in for the big knock out.
We gotta like him for the courage and the heart he did show though; that was a pretty good fight.

I just watched the fight again... and I'm sorry but you're wrong. Only you and VD (no surprise there) thought the stoppage was bad. Consider this:

Other refs would've stopped it at the end of the 3rd or the beginning of the 4th.
Pascal's knees were buckled by a jab at the end of the previous round. He never looked recovered.
Just before Kovalev fell, he was strafing Pascal along the ropes, where only the ropes kept Pascal on his feet.
As Pabon turned his attention to Kovalev getting back up and rightfully calling the fall a non-knockdown, Pascal was drunkenly stumbling out of camera view across the ring and toward the other corner. Pretty much done and out on his feet.
Pascal proceeded to take two more thunderous shots from Kovalev before Pabon rightly stepped in.

    Perfect stoppage.

Just realized on replay that Kovalev has Russian ammunition manufactures as sponsors.

    No irony there
