I am glad you mentioned it because I was going to get one of them Chromecast things for £30 . I have an android phone and I have a PS3 which I share with my stepson and think I can pair them to do the same thing, Basically I would just like to be able to watch some old documentaries etc that are up on Youtube in my telly in the front room or bedroom. I think most new tellies have online capability built in. Nothing wrong with my Old TV yet though and can't afford to upgrade.
Mate I just run one of these from my laptop to my tv. I do that for all streams and Iplayer etc.
