If he said he would do a deal with the SNP then he could kiss goodbye to dozens of marginal seats in England. Sure, he has now lost Scotland but that was going to go anyway.

Anyway, it doesn't rule out a Labour minority. A deal won't happen but the SNP won't vote against a Labour minority's legislation/budgets as a rule. They will act on a issue by issue basis (what all parties should do really but don't). Whereas they would vote down a Tory government on every issue as a matter of principle. Therefore, a Tory minority government will not be able to function. Yet a Labour minority government could.
The thing is if the Tories win a few more seats than Labour the public may not except Labour forming a minority government, even though it may be the only government that has a chance of working.

One good thing is that a Tory government will not last long as a minority, and they can't form a coalition this time unless results are very unexpected.
