Mayweather is boxing's greatest frustration for not giving the fans the fight they deserve which he himself has promised. He said he would come blazing. Pwehhhh. He came running and hugging Pac when Pac was pummeling him.

Floyd honestly reminded me of the old codger Hopkins the last half of the fight. Posing, clinching, popping, posing..waiting for the final bell.
Maybe for once it wasn't the long term fans fooled, but the Hollywood moths to a flame fans. If I heard "fight of the century" one more time I was going to start kneecappin folks![]()
It was always an overhyped bullshit fight.
This fight should have happened years ago when Manny was still at the top of his game and would have been more competitive, but that's boxing for you.
All the hype was built around the fighter that Manny used to be. The reality is that Manny is a shadow of his former self and hasn't knocked anyone out in years - and that's precisely why the fight was finally made. It was about one massive final payday for both fighters before they head off into retirement. Sure, Floyd is in decline as well, but his style is far betted suited to longevity and he was always going to win last night given the timing and circumstances. The bookies had him as a big favourite and rightly so.
The reality is that last night was about the fighters' names, not their current ability to fight. It reminds me of Leonard v Duran 3 and the lack of quality on display, and the outcome was the same.
It was a 12 round bore, a massive disappointment and anyone who paid to watch that probably feels cheated.
Had this happened years ago, when it should have happened, it really would have been a great fight that would have been difficult to call. Manny's all-action style, accuracy, power and speed would undoubtedly have given Floyd some problems, but that's precisely why it didn't happen back then.
Champions handpick their opponents, facing them at a time that suits them. It's about keeping the belts, making money and extending the career. They all do it. We've missed out on so many great fights over the years for these reasons.
Manny's work rate and speed last night were poor, his accuracy was terrible and he got soundly beaten by a guy who didn't exactly let the punches go either - exactly as Floyd and those of us in the know expected.
Floyd did what Floyd does. It's boring to me at least, but it's been enough to earn him a truckload of cash and win 48 fights without too much trouble. You can't expect Manny to turn the clock back and produce something he's no longer capable of and you can't expect Floyd to change his style just to make a fight more interesting if it plays into his opponent's hands.
It went as expected. Even those who built up the hype knew in their hearts that this fight was likely to be nothing like it could have been had it happened 5 years ago. It was a disappointing night and tells us nothing about what might have been and even though they have actually fought, people will still ask what would have happened if Floyd and Manny had fought each other in their primes.

The fight came 5 years too late, but yet had the same result that it would have had ifit was made 5 years ago.
I find it hard to think of a fight that bored me more this year.
You say tomato,
‘n I say …… it correctly.
