It's greatness he's after, that's why he's relinquishing the belts, been there, done that.
Tbh , even if he beats GGG, there will always be people out there that are gonna shit on his achievements.
Yeah GGG's the fight that he should sign off on. Would definitely capture the imagination! Forget Khan - he doesn't deserve a shot at Mayweather.
GGG vs Ward would capture the imagination.

GGG does not deserve a shot at Mayweather
    plus
He's fought enough smaller fighters as it is.

Floyd,a small WW, is not a challenge to Golovkin...he's not a threat..GGG's resume is already loaded with non-threatening fighters.

At 33 years of age,it is time for him to make some major strides in his level of opposition.
Mayweather has one more fight left in his TV deal and then he says he's done. His greatness is already assured but why not sign off in style at 154? GGG comes down to meet him - there's no other opponent that could generate the same interest as a fight with GGG would in my opinion. I think any proposed fight with Ward and GGG is a mute point until we see if Ward becomes an active fighter again post Smith.
There is absolutely no chance Floyd will fight GGG. None at all.

He's just given the people the fight they wanted, albeit 5 years too late, and earned himself a fortune. Let's face it, he doesn't really have anything to prove and he'll be looking to sign off with a nice easy win.
Agree that he'll want to sign off with an easy fight but in reality then who will care? As I said before a fight with GGG captures the public imagination and a win for Mayweather signs off in style and at the top against another P4P fighter at the top. I'd rather he buy out the final fight of his contract and retire now rather than going through the motions with some no-note like Khan or Garcia.
I wouldn't mind seeing him fight Khan. For all his limitations, Khan does have incredibly fast hands and that could make things interesting. He's also much younger and his energy might at least bring something.

There is no way the GGG fight will happen. Neither of them are going to want a risky fight like that right now. GGG is pretty much untouchable in his division and in for plenty of nice comfortable pay days, while Floyd is looking to retire undefeated with a comfortable pay day of his own. Unless there's crazy money on the table, neither of them are likely to be interested.

I hear what you're saying about GGG and sadly you're most likely correct but I think to give Khan a shot is not the way to go. Khan in my opinion is undeserving as he has a chief domestic rival to meet and beat first before he is a worthy WW opponent for Mayweather, in Kel Brook. If he had stopped messing around he could be fighting Brook at the end of the month and victory could have set him up as a legitimate challenger to Mayweather (holding the IBF portion of the title).
