When Manny throws 400 punches in a fight, you know he is either shot or injured. It has nothing to do with the opponent. Maidana threw 800, you can throw at the air if you are healthy and Manny wouldn't even do that.
Because Maidana just came forward throwing. Manny has an in and out style that many don't seem to recognize is about distance. Floyd plan was to make Manny reach and counter or drop the right before Manny would get off. Manny is very predictable he's just so damn fast that he gets away with it. When Manny would start his jump in Floyd would half step back to make Manny reach to counter. Manny knew his attack was thwarted and instead of getting hit he would do nothing. Then he would have to start his attack all over from scratch. Which means a whole new rhythm needs to be established.

If he had gotten the attack started he could have done his 2 throw away jabs and his left, then stepped right and thrown a combination. You're talking about 3-10 punches stopped from being thrown simply with a half step back. And it happens over and over and over.

Manny recognized he was trapped over and over and over and he did nothing, the smart move, over and over and over. Maidana would have put his head down and barreled in. That has never been Mannys style.

But I think you recognize this. I think all boxing fans recognize what happened. They just don't want to admit Floyd is simply far too smart for Manny. So let's argue and make excuses, damn what happened in the ring.
