They didn't burn his body, the remaining Nazis in the bunker did that so the Russians couldn't put it on display. He was identified by skull fragments and dental records but they kept various survivors from the bunker in prison for years of interrogation just in case he had managed to escape.

He did manage to escape though. He definitely made it to Paraguay.
