Mikkel Kessler vs Markus Beyer
To Be Shown In America By HBO
For immediate release
Bettina Palle is pleased to announce that Home Box Office, the American cable network which is considered the world leader in championship boxing events, will televise the Mikkel Kessler-Markus Beyer WBA-WBC super middleweight championship bout from Copenhagen on October 14.
Ms. Palle, whose company International Entertainment ApS of Denmark, is the promoter of the gala boxing show at Parken Stadium, said that HBO would show Kessler vs. Beyer on a same night delayed basis.
"This is a great showcase for both world champions, Kessler and Beyer," Ms. Palle said.
"HBO will show their bout after it shows the super middleweight title bout from England between champion Joe Calzaghe and Sakio Bika. So the HBO commentators and the American boxing fans will have a great chance to see all three champions in action and make their own comparisons.
We are delighted to be working with such a great boxing network because HBO is really the home of world championship boxing.'
Ms. Palle said she expects Kessler-Beyer to be a highly competitive fight and that the HBO airing of it is a classic opportunity for the undfeated WBA champ, Kessler.
"We have wanted so long for Mikkel to be seen by the American public and now it will be a reality," Ms. Palle said.
"Now it is up to Mikkel to defeat Beyer and to look great doing so. If he does, I am sure the American fans and HBO will want to see Kessler again."
Ms. Palle's legendary father, Mogens Palle, said he wanted to thank HBO's key executives for deciding to showcase Kessler right alongside Calzaghe.
"I really want to say that Kery Davis, Ross Greenburg and Luis Barragan are giving Kesser a golden chance to show his considerable skills. There are many U.S. TV networks who show boxing but, when you start out on HBO, you are starting at the top. Now it's all up to Mikkel Kessler."
