That was a 7-5 either way fight. DeGale will forever dine out on that fantastic overhand smash. What a shot.

I was disappointed with Degale because he never put enough work in. If he was knackered then that is slightly excuseable, but to piss about dropping his hands and doing Ali impressions when he needed to keep the pressure on and score points shows that he is a dick and his corner have no sensible control over him.

I think his problem is that he thinks he's the next Naz, but he aint even close!

Damn I did not see the fight but was shocked to read DeGale won. I was real high on the Matrix before the showtime tourney. I thought he beat Froch and he was definitely damaged by Abraham. He was really quick for his size, his heart and chin were the only thing I had any question about.

It was a whopper. Those last two rounds were important too.

De Gale's victory is the greatest since...... Kell Brooks beat Porter.

De Gale just doesn't do it for me. He packs a decent punch and is clearly very awkward and skilled ...... but he comes across as a right arrogant twat and I find his style pretty boring.

Has anyone else noticed that he only ever throws punches when both feet are flat and planted on the floor? He has good balance and that makes his punch economy good, but it does seem that he can be outfoxed by someone who moves him around and refuses to let him 'get off'.

De Gale knockdowns came from no where and I was frustrated he did not capitalise but he got the job done.
