    ~ The Skinny ~

    Just 20-days after having an extremely tough battle with 'Yaqui' Lopez in California, Mike is back on
    the East Coast in his home-base of Orlando.

    His opponent is Miami Beach Light-Heavyweight - Vernon 'The Sledgehammer' McIntosh.

    Vernon is a very popular club-fighter from Southern Florida, and one who has a big following, due to
    his exciting 'bombs-away' style.

    Vernon is strictly a 'One-Punch Knockout Artist' who has no fear of throwing 'right-hand' haymakers
    as he moves forward with little defense.

    Approximately 350 of Vernon's supporters from Miami Beach have ventured North, to support Vernon
    in this Florida bout.

    Before this bout Vernon McIntosh has been both bold and 'chirping', stating that he is going to end
    Mike Quarry's career, by flattening him within 5-Rounds.

    ~ Quarry Edges 'Sledgehammer' McIntosh In Orlando ~

    ~ Quarry Almost Gets Nailed, Barely Holds Off 'Sledgehammer' McIntosh ~

    #10 World-Rated Light-Heavyweight- Mike Quarry was 'wobbled' several times early in the bout,
    and withstood a bad moment in Round 8, but rallied late to just barely edge out 'wild-swinging'
    Vernon McIntosh in a rough 10-Round bout.

    Mike Quarry the World-Class boxer had his hands full over the first 3-Rounds, as 'Knockout Artist'
    Vernon McIntosh came out bombing, as he 'tagged' Quarry with right-hands repeatedly in the
    early going, and had Quarry in bad-shape and 'wobbling', in each of the first 3-Rounds.

    But Quarry was able to ride out the early 'Sledgehammers', and started to come back in Rounds
    4 and 5, as he landed with a variety of combinations on McIntosh who barely had a defense.

    Quarry had his best moments in Rounds 6 and 7, when he landed hard left-hooks into McIntosh's
    mid-section, and had the Miami Beach slugger bending to avoid further punishment.

    But in Round 8, Quarry almost 'crumbled'. After controlling the first {1:25} of the Round, Quarry
    dropped his guard, and was caught by a vicious 'over-hand' right from the wild-swinging McIntosh.

    Mike was 'staggered' and badly hurt as he skidded backwards into the Ropes. McIntosh then came
    in with 'wild' right-hand haymakers, while trying to land the 'finisher'. But somehow, Quarry was able
    to withstand the incoming barrage, and just barely made it out of the Round.

    Coming out for Round 9, McIntosh was arm-weary {from the previous Round's offense output}, and the
    Miami Beach 'star' was exhausted by the mid-way point in the session.

    At this point in the Round, Mike Quarry was able to clear the 'cob-webs' to out his head, and put
    together a strong-charge over the second-half of the session to take the Round.

    With the bout-on-the-line {Round 10} > McIntosh came out with a brief attack of 'hard' right-hands aimed
    at Quarry's head, but by the {0:40 Mark}, Vernon was completely 'gassed-out'.

    Quarry re-grouped, and then came on like 'gangbusters' over the last {1:10} of the Round, as he 'drilled'
    McIntosh with left-hooks and straight right-hands to the head, and having Vernon nearly out-on-his-feet
    at the Bell.

    Scorecards
    * 96-95 .... Mike Quarry
    * 97-95 .... Mike Quarry
    * 96-95 .... Mike Quarry

    Fight Purses
    * Mike Quarry ............ $4692 - {25% of the Gate Receipts}
    * Vernon McIntosh ..... $2300 - {Plus $250 for Pre-Fight Training Expenses}

    ~ After Bout Comments ~

    Mike Quarry >
    "Yea, it was pretty rough in there tonight. This guy {Vernon McIntosh} can punch with the best of
    them. He had me hurt in each of the first 3-Rounds, but I was able to use me experience to ride
    it out and come back."

    "Oh, I got caught in Round 8. I dropped my guard, and he caught me with a 'Sunday Punch'. I wasn't
    as badly hurt as it looked. I knew where I was, but I was 'dazed' for sure."

    Vernon McIntosh >
    "I won. Damn right I won this fight."

    "Look, he won his Rounds by jabbing, that's all. I won my Rounds by smashing him. I won my Rounds
    by a bigger margin. No way did he win."

    "If this bout is held anywhere I else, I get the Decision. That's all I have to say. Now let me get my
    money {Fight Purse} and get the hell out of this place. This was a 'Hometown Job' and everybody
    knows it here."
