It seems the division has been passed by by 3 or 4 divisions as far as steady talented depth and by a few others as far as intermittent talented depth.
Most recently, two good middleweights were active simultaneously when Sergio Martinez beat Kelly Pavlik and when he beat Paul Williams. Before that, there was the Jermain Taylor fights against Bernard Hopkins. And so on.

Right now, there's GGG and the rest of the division. Lee and Saunders are solid, but not top level guys. Same with the rest of the division.
im not sure pavlik was anywhere near his prime when he fought martinez

i think oavlik taylor was a top level fight and an entertaining one
Completely disagree. He just had stomped Espino and Rubio in the two previous fights. And he was less than two years from beating up Taylor. His peak might have been Taylor, but this wasn't far behind.

    Saunders should beat Lee.
do you think he would beat cotto?
I think he could beat Cotto.

Saunders hasnt even been close to mixing it with the quality of opposition that Cotto has. Hes not even a big middleweight either so that takes away that advantage. I think Saunders is good but hes just not on that elite level of fighting.

Neither is Cotto. Saunders would have beaten the fighters Cotto faced at middleweight with similar ease.

Andy Lee just put it on his twitter that it is on, September 19th at Thomond Park Stadium in Limerick. I don't really see Andy Lee as a top level fighter, but he's plenty good enough to beat Saunders, especially in what should be a lively home atmosphere.

Yeah just read this too, will be a great night for boxing with an electric atmosphere- Great fans the Irish they make it a party vibe and love their boxing.
Saunders should box Lees head off on paper but Lee has the power to stop BJS at anytime
