Danny Garcia put on a great performance against Matthysse, boxed better than anyone thought he could and showed a WORLD CLASS CHIN, because he took some flush bombs from Matthysse that would have knocked 95% of the division out IMO. It was a masterful performance.

Since then he's looked much shittier against much shittier opposition. Who knows why, it's very strange. Maybe he's one of those guys who fights to the level of his opposition, and needs to be in there with a world beater like Khan or Matthysse to really rise to the occasion.

I think it's just the styles man. Garcia is a solid boxer with a big punch and a great chin, but not a great boxer. I wouldn't say it was a masterful performance against Mattyhsse as like you say he did take a lot of big shots. Mattyhsse went to war against John Molina right after that fight, then Molina got schooled by Broner and couldn't land much, just for another example. MAaaaybe, Mattyhsse gets a bit overrated as a boxer in all of this?

Also remember that Lucas changed his per fight rituals for that fight. He switched his camp from the normal training in Argentina near his family to training in the US and engaging in the prefight press tour and festivities..probably because of the issue that came up with his passport in the Peterson fight. Doesn't seem to agree with him. He seems to fight better when he's played it low key.

That and the styles and the fact that Garcia seemed like the type of fighter that fight to the level of his competition. So knowing matthysse was dangerous, he probably prepped more that the extra eyebrow shaping he did for salka, Peterson. It appears Lucas wants that one back bad to do it the way he should have
They want your @$$ beat because upsets make news. News brings about excitement, excitement brings about ratings. The objective is to bring you up to the tower and tear your @$$ down. And if you don't believe that, you're crazy.
