Master, the kids have no choice at all at that age. Of course I agree with you on that ..... but it's not the State's job to decide how people should bring up their kids either - the dad somehow blaming the police for radicalising the women is also laughable. Talk about a victim mentality!

The reason the dad’s said that was because the police encouraged the sisters to stay in communication with their brother which resulted in them being radicalised and taking the kids. The state should protect children and vulnerable adults who can not help themselves.

Plenty of Muslims live peacefully and happily in the west.

This is true, but they also have views and values that don't fit in with our society. It's not just about terrorism, it's also the oppressive, sexist, homophobic, ect views that are innate in Islam.

We've had issues here in Canada where a lot of them just can't function within our society. We've had issues with them demanding to wear niqab's on passports and government IDs, demanding that women be segregated from them in certain formal settings (university classes, ect), demanding dedicated prayer centres in schools, even though all religion has been taken out of public schools. This is a belief system that promotes apostasy as well as the execution of homosexuals. These ideas have no place in our Western world.

It's not strictly against Muslims: as an agnostic, I'm not for any religion getting special privileges and rules based on what imaginary man in the sky they choose to believe in. Freedom of religion and the promotion of multiculturalism shouldn't mean that a certain religion gets to call their own shots and disrespect the law and culture of the land. In these cases, I think it's best for both parties that they keep their asses over in the middle east.

For sure I know it isn't just terrorism. I'm not blinkered about this. Far from it. I don't agree with forced wearing of the burka, I don't agree with forced marriage, I don't agree with....I could go on.

I also feel that if you choose to live in a country a balance has to be struck between allowing you freedom of religion etc and the laws and conventions of that country. And if your beliefs run counter to that countries laws or culture then you should not practice said beliefs. Couldn't agree more.

The only people I have an issue with are bigots that hate all Muslims because they are Muslims. Even if said Muslim does none of the things mentioned above. People that have expressed a desire to 'shoot Muslims' because ' I hate Muslims'.
They aren't coming from the same place of analysis as you.
