I also don't think he needs a defensive specialist. I think he's most successful when he is offensive. Maybe a Robert Garcia or a Nazim Richardson. PBC also needs better matchmakers. Maidana conclusively beat up Broner and then they match him with another tough, brawler in Porter. He should have stayed at 140, and fought someone like Algieri, and continued to rack up wins. Perhaps though he's just been overrated all along, and it was just a matter of time.
See I agree he is most effective when offensive but thats the problem (excuse the pun). He has no plan b and when a fighter who only knows forward and is stronger than him comes at him, he has no clue what to do. He needs a better defense and he needs to learn how to fight goin backwards. If he could have learnt how to punch when Porter came in, he'd have softened him up to the point where Porter wouldn't want to come forward anymore and then he could have played his game.

Some of you keep saying Broner should stay at 140. The problem is he doesn't seem to have the work ethic to maintain that weight. At 147 his overrated defense will be exposed even more by bigger punchers. His wide stance and flat footed style don't do him any favors. He is VERY hook happy. He does not posses a great right hand AT ALL. Combine that with his lack of great work ethic and low ring IQ....i think it's safe to say he has been greatly over hyped. As i have always said...before Floyd was MONEY...he had the foundation of a tremendous pedigree, skill set, and work ethic. Broner wants what Floyd has...but without the hard work and skill set.

Showed in the 12 round he had the power to hurt Porter but he should of been more aggressive. Pretty much whole fight was backing up and getting hit needs to figure out what kinda of fighter he is. Also he needs to go in attack mode if he can not box the guy worth a shit either.

Can he make 140lb? He looks too big boned to do that and at welterweight he is not skilled enough to beat the brawlers.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
