He has spent a lot of his last few fights going backwards. Getting hurt to the body by a non-puncher recovering alcoholic and then being on the back foot against him is not a sign of grat things to come from Mr. Thurman. They put him in with a non-puncher to give him a showcase and he failed to show his case. I'm getting less impressed every time I see him fight. I'd love to see him fight Khan.

I think Thurman is a bit of a hypejob and I really do think that Haymon is holding him back on purpose until Floyd leaves. Even that call out of Floyd seemed fake. He actually had to be prodded to do it. Haymon probably still goes to Floyd for advice. I'd almost wager Floyd is a major silent player in his company and will most likely end up there after retirement

But I cant rationally say that because of Collazo the guys got nothing. We all know how difficult that guy is and a southpaw to boot. But also this kind of thing happens when fighters are not tested earlier before they meet a gatekeeper. Sure Luis was older but the tricks and ring savvy dont vanish. Thurman never faced anyone even remotely like Collazo. Hatton didn't either before their fight and lots of people think Ricky lost.

I think he gets a pass for not looking spectacular and we all need to take a step back in the overall judgement of a guy after just one fight. It did tell us things though and future opponents. He has issues with movement, cant go backwards at all most likely from a career thus far of fighting people that stood right in front of him. He wants the booth. He also may be soft in the body because that shot was not that huge and lets not forget who threw it. But in fairness placed right it does not have to be a battering ram.

And I found the stoppage weird. Should you not wait first to see if the cut man can do his job. Pass me a tin foil hat and I might say the storyline was not going well and a signal was sent. Btw I liked Thurman a lot when he first burst on the scene but for a guy who is really not fighting anyone, he needs to plug his mouth because everyone knows he's not deciding. Different story when you can make your call out happen. I bet Haymon tells him how much red meat he's allowed to eat a week.

Anyway Haymon needs to get busy and start matching his A team against each other. Careers are composting in mediocrity.

Thurman already knew loooooong before Saturday's fight that he was out of the Floyd sweepstakes. He was just blowing smoke.

This division has taken a nose dive over the past 12 months. Thurman, Khan, Broner and Porter have all had setbacks lately.

These guys will fight one another as soon as Floyd and Manny piss off and retire.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.

If Thurman is the best thing Haymon has to work with when Floyd retires then the PBC is in a lot of trouble.

    True.

They need to give broner some magic pills to remove the flat feet and the gun shy to try and save his future millions.

As limited as Broner is, he'll remain relevant. He'll fight a few bums then talk his way back
