Haye would get wiped away by a prime Liston, which as X said was not during the time he was champion.

That has to be the first time I've ever heard someone claim that a boxer's prime was BEFORE they became champ

It happens to fighters who never get the title opportunity like Archie Moore.

Yeah maybe so, but I just think its a bit dubious to say a guy was in his prime before he was champ, given the fact that everyone looks better before they're champ because they're fighting weaker opposition for the most part.

I understand he was at a more advanced age when he won the title than most champs are, but he was just coming off of two first round KOs of Patterson, who was a magnificent fighter, so can we really say he was that passed his prime, if at all?
